A joint project of Kazakhstan and China at the crossroads of Eurasian trade routes.
The International Center of Boundary Cooperation Khorgos is a complex for trade, economic and investment cooperation and tourism development, consisting of Kazakh and Chinese parts located on the adjacent border territories of the two states.
The project is implemented within the Nurly Zhol economic policy and the Belt and Road Initiative, originating from the framework agreement between Kazakhstan and China.
2005
Center established
ICBC Khorgos JSC was founded; construction of the Kazakh part's infrastructure began.
2017
SEZ status
The Kazakh part received special economic zone status with a full package of preferences.
2019
Management company
The company received the status of the SEZ management company.
2024
Project commission
A commission for preliminary review of investment projects began work.
