In 2005, the Government of the PRC and the Government of the RK signed an agreement on the joint creation of the Khorgos Sino-Kazakhstan International Center for Border Cooperation.
The total area of the Chinese part is 343 hectares.
On the Chinese part of the Khorgos ICBC there are 4 zones with an area of 9.73 km2 that perform the following functions: customs clearance, logistics services in the SEZ, port operations and integrated services.
According to the rules of the Chinese side, visitors are allowed to take out duty-free goods worth 8,000 yuan per person every day.
Citizens of China and Kazakhstan, as well as third countries, can enter or leave Khorgos ICPS without presenting a passport, pass ticket or other valid documents without applying for a visa for up to 30 days.
